PEA helps load serving organizations optimize energy procurement and other utility operations to maximize value.
PEA specializes in working with load aggregators offering an alternative to the investor-owned utilities. We helped launch the first CCA program in California and have supported a large majority of CCA programs during their initial startup phase on through to mature operations. Our services include procurement of energy, capacity and renewable energy, design of portfolio risk management programs, retail electric rate design, financial modeling and program administration. PEA has successfully negotiated contracts for thousands of megawatts of new renewable energy projects and tens of billions of dollars’ worth of energy purchases.
PEA also provides regulatory support services, which include analysis of various rate-related and long-term procurement planning proceedings, developing expert testimony, and meeting with agency Commissioners and staff to better inform how existing and future rules and regulations impact PEA’s energy clientele. PEA can handle compliance services related to renewable energy portfolio standards, resource adequacy, power source disclosure and emission reporting, and integrated resource planning.
We pride ourselves on the successes of our clients. Typical project deliverables include business plans, risk assessments, contract negotiation support, electric supply portfolio management, rate analyses, regulatory support and expert advisory services.
